Understanding Laws Relating to Children In Conflict With the Law in Tanzania

Abstract

This article aims to provide an understanding of the laws relating to children in conflict with the law in Tanzania. It includes an introduction, importance of addressing the laws relating to children in conflict with the laws in Tanzania, factors leading to the conflict with the law, legal and institutional framework governing children in conflict with the law, why separate law and institutions for juveniles, key principles of the juvenile justice system, challenges in laws and the implementation, and lastly the conclusion; whereby in the final conclusion, the researcher addresses the importance of understanding the laws and the legal framework that governs children who come into the conflict with the law in Tanzania as well as the need of treating them in conformity with international norms. In the course of doing the research, the researcher applied two approaches, these are qualitative and quantitative research designs, in order to fully answer the concerned inquiries.
